Welcome 2008!

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year. It was a wonderful blessing to spend time with family and see Kayla get so excited. While she obviously is not old enough to grasp everything that was going on, she was much more interested in the festivities this year. She was lucky to get lots of wonderful things, but we were surprised by one of her favorites.

Aaron's parents passed along a nativity set that he and Isaac had played with when they were growing up. All of the figures are a hard plastic, but are not necessarily meant to be toys. However, Aaron and Isaac had fond memories of stacking the figurines and playing with them each year. So now the nativity set will be passed along to the grandchild who is 2 or 3 that Christmas (at this rate, Kayla will be hording it for a while =)

Anyway, Kayla was immediately in awe of baby Jesus and had him flying around the room in no time. He would get misplaced and she'd come running through the house "baby Jesus, baby Jesus...is he?" He went sliding down Mamaw and Papaw's new lamp, played with Mickey Mouse, and lots of other adventures I'm sure he was never intended for, but it was fun to watch anyway. What an amazing way to start her love for Christ.

Well, we hope your holidays were as wonderful as ours, and that you enjoy some of the pictures from our celebrations. We wish you and your family many blessings in the new year.

The one and only nativity set!

Giddy-up!

We got home Christmas night and planned to celebrate with just the 3 of us the next morning. We put together the kitchen our parents got for Kayla, a pop-up tent from Aaron's family and Santa brought her the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Disney figurines. Santa's Helper (this is what her hat says) quickly started playing with everything. It was only slightly disturbing when she put the Disney characters in a pot and cooked them in the play microwave!

Kayla feels like her baby's portable crib is for her too!
