Holiday Season

Since I was so behind on my blog postings, there is another new post right after this one, which is all about Kayla's 2nd birthday, so make sure you read on and enjoy!

Here are a few pictures from Halloween. Kayla was an adorable little lady bug and enjoyed trick-or-treating this year (though we did have to coax her along with Smarties from time to time). She especially enjoyed her friend Aidan since he was dressed as Elmo. She kept rubbing his soft fur and saying, "Hi, Elmo."

Instead of just saying, "thank you," Kayla had recently been saying, "thank you, welcome." We guess she was just trying to cover all of her bases. As she would receive candy this is how she would thank them, but as the night wore on it became, "welcome!" To include the "thank you" was just too much for her.

There was a beautifully warm fall day not too long ago, so we went outside to take advantage of it. Kayla loves being on the bike with Aaron, so we went for a nice ride around the neighborhood. Kayla has started singing, so we had her really belting out the tunes as we hit the open road.

There are some days where Kayla is less than willing to take her nap. We found her like this one afternoon after hearing her chatter for a long time. She had thrown all of her stuffed animals out of the bed, along with her blanket, which is typically a must-have for sleeping. If you notice at the top of the bed, she had also shed her pants (fortunately, not her diaper!).

Kayla and Peri both just turned 2, so it was time to get the girls together again and to meet Peri's new little sister, Sloane. As you can see, Kayla wasn't afraid to walk right up to her...and yank out her pacifier. She was willing to give it back, whether Sloan wanted it or not.

Peri is quite photogenic, while Kayla gives me the look of disgust. I thought she was supposed to be a teenager before this kind of attitude developed!

All of these little girls seem to have their hair in pig tails, and Kayla has never been willing to have anything in her hair. But one day, Aaron finally won her over and pulled up her hair. She looked so cute, and it was even cuter to see her look at herself in the mirror. It was quite a phenomenon for her!

Here's Kayla's first photo of the Christmas season (she also has her "Flat Kayla" alongside her). Hanging the ornaments on the Christmas tree proved to be quite a challenge this year, as Kayla thought they were toys to run around the house with. We are gradually hanging things higher and higher as she keeps pulling them off.

The other day, she had one, and we asked her to put it back on the tree. After she did, she walked over to the drawer of the end table, opened it, and pulled out another ornament. Apparently she had hidden it earlier in the day! Despite being a little difficult, I know that Kayla will be so much fun at Christmas this year. I can't wait to see her reaction to everything, and hopefully she will start to grasp what we are really celebrating.

We wish all of you a happy holiday season, and hope that you will be able to enjoy time with your family and friends.
