Happy 2nd Birthday, Kayla!

Kayla was horrified to learn that she was turning another year older:

OK, not really, but as Kayla opened presents at her second, 2nd birthday party (yes, two days of partying with a 2-year-old) she would exclaim "OH!" each time she opened something (card, toy, clothes; she didn't discriminate). It was quite humorous, and reminded me of the joy we should all have for the gifts we have been blessed with (family, friends, health, freedom, etc.).

We combined house warming/birthday party and hosted my family on Saturday and Aaron's family on Sunday. Needless to say, Kayla had her fair share of partying this year. On Sunday night as we were putting Kayla to bed, we asked her if she enjoyed her birthday parties to which she asked, "More?!" I told her I thought she'd had quite enough for one year!

Here Kayla sweetly offers to share her cupcake...

...shortly there after she devours it.

Our gift to Kayla was a tricycle, retro-Radio Flyer style (Daddy's choosing). Kayla loves ringing the bell, and if her go-go gadget legs would just grow a little bit, I think she'd actually be able to peddle!

You may have noticed the dark circle under her eye in her birthday pictures. Yes, Kayla had her first black eye, and just days before her birthday (fortunately, I had already gotten her 2-year pictures taken...sigh of relief).

Anyway, poor little thing tripped while running (of course, when she wasn't supposed to be) and fell into a table at school. I was horrified when I picked her up that evening, but she acted like it was nothing. On the ride home, I did hear her say, "Eye...table...crying." Fortunately the trauma wore off.

We are so thankful for the two years since Kayla joined our lives, and we look forward to so many more. While she gets more challenging each day, her love for us is so awesome and our love for her is immeasurable.
