Happy 3rd Birthday, Kayla!

This first picture was taken on Kayla's actual birthday, November 4th (Election Day). Maren and I went to cast our vote after taking Kayla to school. Daddy was in sunny San Diego for work, so us girls were flying solo. I snapped some pictures before Kayla went to school, and started in her new classroom. She and 6 other children turned 3 the first week of November. Unfortunately, her best friend is still in the 2 yr. old room, but at least she had a bunch of familiar faces moving with her.

We celebrated with family the following weekend. As you can see, Kayla was a very lucky birthday girl!

As much as she enjoyed all of her wonderful gifts, one of her favorites was getting to play with Layla. This is Uncle Isaac and Aunt Derika's new puppy, a Yorkie Poo (name inspired by the female boxer because of the dog's white paws and black fur). A 2 pound ball of fur, with a Kayla chasing behind it. Fortunately Kayla's birthday is kind of the kick-off to the holiday season, so she was able to see Layla at Thanksgiving and Christmas too. That poor dog was hauled all over the place. She was quite cooperative though! Thank goodness!

Here's Kayla showing off her "team shirt" from Uncle Josh. I hope Peyton isn't offended by the princess crown and earrings. Anytime there's a football game on TV, Kayla yells, "Go Colts." Obviously, they're not always playing, so she's finally learning to ask first if it is the Colts we're watching.

I have to make a side comment about this picture. Kayla and I recently made Christmas cookies to take to some of our neighbors (and eat a few at home). When she was eating a little one with icing, it apparently brought back fond memories. She looked up at Aaron and I asking, "can you sing happy birthday to me??" So cute, how could we resist!

Happy Birthday, Kayla! We love you!

Making up for lost time

Well, realizing that it's almost Christmas, I thought I should post some pictures from Halloween, Thanksgiving, and other good pictures over the last couple months. I'm back to work now, which leaves little time for blogging. However, the girls are too cute not to brag on.

Kayla is obsessed with "Mickey Christmas" right now. I was lucky enough to catch this on the Disney Channel a couple weeks ago, and she requests it every morning. She watches a little bit of it while she eats her oatmeal before school. She's still smothering Maren, and can hardly stand dropping her off at day care. She wants to stay in the room with her.

Maren is on the brink of laughing, but at least doing lots more smiling. She's sleeping through the night, and I couldn't be more blessed. She is my second, very easy, good natured baby. I guess God knew I wouldn't have the patience or time for anything less. She has the biggest eyes you've ever seen, and amazingly they appear to be staying blue. We're not sure how we got around Aaron's dominant brown eyes but so far it seems to be the case for both girls.

I hope you enjoy the pictures!

The tiger wins...

Kayla decided to go swimming,

In the laundry basket!

A trip to the Children's Museum!

Maren is my thumb sucker. A woman after my own heart. It's amazing to me that she finds it so easily at this young of an age.
