Rolling, rolling, rolling

Six months now, and Maren has been rolling all over the place this last month and a half. Unfortunately, around 4 months Maren decided to do it for the first time at school. Then again, school is about the only place she has a safe environment to actually be on the floor. Kayla is like a vulture, waiting for you to be put on the floor so she can attack. In a more loving way, yes, but attack none the less.

Maren's also just starting to sit up, which is of course typically followed by falling over backwards. But we'll take it!

By far the most excitement right now is starting veggies. Here's some good pictures of Maren's first adventure with sweet potatoes.

We do now have the benefit of knowing that this girl will eat it all and she looooves her peas. She gobbles them up like no other. This made it especially funny when we received her report from daycare one day, stating:
"Please bring more baby food. She only has peas left -- she HATES peas."

When I inquired, the young lady apologetically admitted that she meant to write it on the "other" Maren's sheet. Oh yes, did you know that one? There is another Maren in her class. What are the stinking odds??!! All's well that ends well, the "other" Maren left the daycare, so there's no longer a competing Maren!

Father Daughter Dance

Our church has an annual Father Daughter Dance, and this was the first year for Aaron to take Kayla. We had several friends that were taking their daughters too, so Kayla was really excited. She can hardly wait to go again next year.

She apparently spent a lot of time with her friend, Jillian, and a lot of time with the hula hoop. I'm not so sure she can "hula", but she seemed to use it as a tool for dragging Jillian around. Poor girl!

Maren's Dedication

On March 1st we stood before the church congregation and made the commitment as parents to help nurture and guide Maren toward Christ. We were thankful that so many of our family members were able to witness the dedication and celebrate with us that day.

Aaron's dad was kind enough to pull rank and give us our own ceremony vs. the mass dedications that are held each quarter. It pays to have grandpa as senior pastor! Aaron's mom then reserved the chapel on the church's campus to host a luncheon. Our parents were so gracious in hosting our family to a delicious meal. The day was so special for us, and we were grateful to those of you who could come.

Unfortunately, both girls were at the peak of their respective illnesses - Kayla looking like someone had punched her in the face and Maren with a cough that sounded like she was an old man. They both are doing much better now, which we are so thankful for. We appreciate everyone's prayers, as they are definitely paying off.

Here are several more pictures from that day. Maren looked so sweet with her little (OK, who am I kidding - extremely chubby) legs crossed.

All of the cousins!

Yes, of course Maren is already doing the stand-up trick! And quite well, I might add.
